In response to the awesome feedback many of you left in our
Reader Poll, we are introducing several changes to the
daily_snitch guidelines.
Hot Recs:According to the poll, Hot Recs is the category that most people (80 of 104) are interested in. There was also feedback about the lack of pairing variety in the Hot Recs, a concern that we share.
To address the high interest in Hot Recs but in more varied Hot Recs, we came up with this change of policy:
• In 2014, most Hot Recs were for Harry/Draco, Harry/Severus and Remus/Sirius stories and art. Thus, stories and art featuring those three pairings will continue to require
three recs to qualify for a Hot Rec.
•
NEW All other pairings and gen stories and art
only need two recs to qualify for a Hot Rec.
This is a test. We'll go with this policy for the next six months, then we'll re-evaluate to see whether we actually get a broader pairing variety of Hot Recs this way or not.
• As usual, all recs need to be made in
unflocked posts on LJ, IJ or DW.
• We will start including the
summary of the recced work in the Hot Rec.
Editor's Choice Rec:In addition to the changes for Hot Recs requirement, we are introducing an
Editor's Choice Rec. These recs will be entirely up to the Editor-in-Charge.
New Categories:We are introducing new categories in the
daily_snitch.
–
Joanne K. Rowling news: News about JKR get their own category and are no longer lumped together with "Actors and Movies".
–
Masterlists and Weekly-Roundups get their own category and are no longer meshed into the "Community" or "Challenges" categories.
–
Community Spotlight: We are introducing a category to highlight one specific Harry Potter community. The Editor-in-Charge chooses the community. Suggestions are welcome; please email the
daily_snitch.
Tagging:We will start tagging entries so
daily_snitch content can be searched through the
tags page. New tags will include tags for pottermore, for jfk news, for meta, for hot rec/hot art, for fantastic beasts (news about the upcoming movies) and more.
Special Editions will be back:Up until September 2011,
titti organised Special Editions, asking readers for art, fiction, communities, videos and resources for each and every Harry Potter character. Check the
tag page for the awesome Special Editions that were collected through the years.
We think it's time to re-introduce Special Editions, to update the resource and to gather all the fic and art that has been created in the last three years.
vaysh will organise the Special Editions, starting January 2015. Right now, we plan to do two Special Editions a month.
